The dispersion of population is the most outstanding feature. The administrative capital is Avinyó Nou.

The following towns also come under the administrative jurisdiction of Avinyonet del Penedès:

Les Gunyoles, Sant Sebastià del Gorgs, Cantallops, L’Arboçar, La Garrofa and Sant Pere d’Avinyó – which gives its name to the town. Avinyonet del Penedès is orographically divided into two halves: one relatively flat, the other mountainous.

Puig de la Mola, at 532m, being the highest point. The main economic activity is agriculture, in particular vineyards.
